I've blogged about Lianne De Havas before, and I like to add her to this list because she is truly a gem of a musician. Her album, "Is Your Love Big Enough" was named one of iTunes best albums of the year in 2012. Take a listen, and judge for yourself.

With such big curls, I say Ms. Annie Clark from St.Vincent has big talent. Cheesy? Probably, but so very true. This Berklee College of Music alum worked and toured with Sufjan Stevens before forming her own band. Her latest album, "Strange Mercy" has been praised on the Billboard charts.

Karen O (Karen Lee Orzolek) was born in South Korea to a Korean mother and Polish father. She is mostly known as the front woman of indie rock band, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. She has been known as one of the most prominent woman singers under the indie genre after releasing Yeah Yeah Yeah's first huge single, "Maps." The song became the #7 best song in 2000s according to Rolling Stone Magazine.

As if my love for British musicians was enormous enough! Laura Marling has become one of my favorite musicians and is an inspiration to modern folk music today. Yes, she even dated Marcus Mumford from Mumford and Sons (not sure if they are still dating), but talk about the two most talented musicians together. She began to emerge into the British indie music scene when she was only 16, all thanks to MySpace and the internet.
Who are some of your favorite female musicians who rock?
J.
